Newsletter 3 – September 2006
Hi Everyone,
Once again it's time for an update on what's been happening at The
Springs4x4. It only seems like yesterday since I wrote the last
Newsletter. Doesn't time go fast when you're having fun! Luckily, it
seems that this place never seems to be dull so I don't have to rack my memory
to tell you what's happened in September.
Tracks Tracks Tracks
This property has a way of surprising you. I knew when we moved here
that it had great potential in terms of a four wheel drive park. The
terrain seemed to be excellent for what we had planned. After a year of
walking the property I thought I knew it and had probably viewed the best areas
for new tracks. Well I was wrong! A picture tells a thousand
stories...and these are all new areas!
Take a look at some of this!
There are rocks, rocks, rocks, deep holes, ledges, climbs, steep descents, in
fact everything you could want for. Our intention is to have these tracks
available by the 9th September. There is a reason ....so
please read on.
G4 Orange (9th September)
What's this I can hear you say? It's Land Rover code for "Extreme night
drive". A few weeks ago a number of Land Rovers appeared at the Park.
I had just finished a new track and asked them if they wanted to have a go.
After a couple of vehicle bashes and a few snatches everyone got up and I struck
up a conversation with Glen.
Now Glen as it happens, has been involved with 4x4 since 1985. He has
also run over 28 Australian Short Course events, as well as numerous charity and
industry shows. He also owns his own business...(Brothers Custom Shop),
guess what, yes in the 4 wheel drive industry! He offered to come and
build some tracks and then run a night event over the new trails.
Well...how could I refuse?!! So on the night of the 9th September, at
least 5 vehicles, complete with navigators, are going to attempt the new extreme
tracks. One of Glen's own customised cars Discoute, will be trying the
route.

So, I know its late notice, but if anyone wants to come and spectate feel
free. However, please ring us first to make sure there's room for you!!
Come and see some night action on virgin tracks and watch the intrepid bunch
whilst you have a beer in your hand! I know who'll be safer because who
knows what will happen. There's no entrance fee to spectate, just bring your
tent, campervan or trailer and have a bit of fun....and maybe in the hours of
daylight have a drive of the new tracks...Hope to see you there.
Whilst on the subject of tracks, Brisbane Way has now been fully cleared
giving another 250 metres of hair raising fun!
Childrens Play Area
We are in the process of enhancing the kids area near
to the main office. We have added a full sized sandpit, swings and a
variety of toys with which the little ones can play with. The area is
fenced off so there will be no danger of someone running out onto the tracks
whilst they are playing. The next phase will be to fence the near by
paddock and put all those nice cuddly baby animals there. The area is
visible from the Stables coffee shop so come and put your feet up and watch them
whilst having a great coffee!
Halloween (Oct 28th/29th)
Come and try something different for Halloween! Fancy dress at the Stables Ghoul Cavern. Prizes for the scariest kid and
adult. A Halloween feast with kids Halloween games.
We have plenty of more ideas for fun and games at the Springs 4x4 so watch the
next newsletter for more detail. Bookings are required for all of the above and
will be taken on a first come first served basis. As you all know, places are
limited here on the Park…so ring early!
Springs in the Air?
After 50mm of rain this week, the camping area is greening up again.
The temperature is rising, blue sky during the day and in the mornings you don't
have to rug up like a Roo in the Arctic. So after a relatively quiet first
Winter here, we look forward to seeing all those braver souls who prefer warmer
camping!
Hope to see you soon
Keep on trackin!
Best Wishes
Iain, Toni and Jordan
