Newsletter 1 – July 2006

Hi Folks!  Welcome to all from Iain, Toni and Jordan. This is our first Newsletter for the Springs 4x4. Our objective is to keep you abreast of the changes that are occurring within the Park and to inform you of any events that are planned. Like all new things we are changing all the time!

It has been very eventful since December 31st 2005, the first day that we opened the Park. We have met hundreds of new people and learnt a huge amount. The quantity of sound and wise advise we have been freely given has been great. Some of it we have acted on and others we have stored for future reference. One of the great things of operating the Park is that you meet people from all walks in life and therefore you get a varied perspective on whatever topic may be under discussion! You would be amazed how many people know something about the

frogmouthedhorseflyrat (!) for example, and want to let you know their view! All of this chat of course, is with one or two beers in your hand around the communal campfire!

Even in the short period of time that we have been open the Park has altered. We

have now put a new sign at the entrance. Hopefully you’ll now know where to slow down and turn rather than cruising past at 100kph! You can even see it at the top of the hill coming from Stanthorpe! Also, as you come onto the Park you’ll now see ARB signage around the property. ARB has sponsored the Springs 4x4. This is our first sponsor and very prestigious for us as ARB only formally sponsors one other 4 wheel drive park in Australia. We look forward to developing this relationship.

Yes we are still building more tracks! All of the new tracks are now of the difficult to very difficult kind. We believe we have enough moderate tracks around the park and intend to build further tracks that will test your vehicle and your confidence. We have had three clubs that have helped us build and develop some of the new tracks…thank you. If there are any individuals or clubs who want to have a go at this exercise then give us a ring. Once built the track naming choice is yours!

The evening roast meals seem to be going down well. We have now changed the location of them to the house at the front of the Park. Pre dinner drinks or Happy hour is now on the veranda and then off to the back of the house where fires, music and dinner waits. We are starting to theme some of these evenings and all through July we are doing Xmas as the theme, with trees, decorations, lights and of course Santa and his elves present! Any suggestions for a particular theme that you may like - let us know. The Stables coffee shop goes from strength to strength. We have purchased a new $2000 coffee maker….so ladies..your coffees will now be better, tastier and faster to your table. Give us a try!

For those of you who like biking then Warwick and Stanthorpe mountain bike club are building some runs around the property. They will be separate to the 4 wheel drive tracks. One of the tracks will be 7.2 km long, built to competition standard…so if you feel the need to get fit or ride off the previous nights excesses….we can point you in the right direction!

Lastly, thank you for your support. We appreciate all your visits to the Springs. If there is anything that we can do to make your stay better then let us know and we’ll see what we can do. If you have any feedback, (positive or negative), then either email or give us a ring.

Keep on trackin!

Best Wishes

Iain, Toni and Jordan
